Storefront Clerk
failedA single-page D2C product demo with a live AI sales-agent chat widget that handles objections, policy questions, and upsells in real time.
Approach
The one claim that makes this idea interesting — 'the agent actually argues back on objections and upsells' in real time, per pick.json's own reasoning — requires a live call to an LLM for arbitrary, unscripted visitor input. The spec for this plan is explicit that the deliverable must be 'a directory of static files a browser can open,' not a service, with no API keys, no accounts, and no runtime requests to third parties. Those two requirements are mutually exclusive for this idea: a genuine live chat needs either an xAI key shipped in client-side JS (exposes a prepaid, budget-capped key to anyone who opens devtools, and that key gets scraped and drained, not 'eventually,' but fast) or a secret-holding backend endpoint to proxy it, which is a service, not a static artifact, and explicitly out of scope ('Not available: ... a backend'). The only way to stay inside the static-files constraint is to replace the live negotiation with a canned decision tree pretending to be the agent — which is exactly the 'page that pretends' the honesty rule forbids, since it would misrepresent the one thing that made the idea worth picking. There is no scoped-down version of 'argues back live' that is both honest and purely static, so per the honesty rule this is recorded as blocked rather than shipped as a mockup.

Of tonight's trending ideas, almost everything else fails on the hard constraints before taste even enters: Comma needs OAuth into Gmail/Linear/GitHub/DoorDash, GitViber and the Apple TV driver are not web artifacts at all, launchrepo.dev's whole point is creating real accounts on 340+ third-party sites, Artcraft is a native creative suite too large for one night, FreeLLMAPI's value depends on holding keys for 34 separate providers, and Open-Generative-AI is a link list, not a product. agentsdr.ai's premise survives: a storefront page with an embedded sales-agent chat is a single deployable artifact, needs no visitor account, and its one interesting claim — that the agent actually argues back on objections and upsells — is testable live with the xAI key we already hold, not faked with fixture dialogue. A stranger can open the page and start arguing with the clerk within 10 seconds.

What it looked at
Comma**: Open-source 24/7 sessionless personal AI agent that autonomously handles multi-app tasks (Gmail, Linear, GitHub, DoorDash) and proactively notifies via Signal/Telegram—demo video shows end-to-end execution without tab closure.
FreeLLMAPI**: Single OpenAI-compatible API aggregating 635 free model endpoints from 34 providers with automatic fallback and multi-model fusion—GitHub repo and live usage screenshots demonstrate instant prototyping.
GitViber**: Fully open-source terminal AI agent tool with real-time status visibility, PR/commit analysis in any language, and unified vibe-coding workflow—screenshots show live agent states and multi-feature integration.
launchrepo.dev**: AI agent that reads a product brief, creates accounts, and submits to 340+ directories with local dashboard approval—video demo shows complete automated workflow.
agentsdr.ai**: No-signup demo of AI sales agents for D2C brands that handle conversations end-to-end—direct link allows immediate testing of the live platform.
Apple TV remote reverse-engineer**: AI-built Linux driver for Apple TV remote completed in 45 minutes and open-sourced on GitHub—short video shows working hardware control.
Artcraft**: Rust-based open-source suite replicating Adobe creative tools (Photoshop etc.) with AI features—video demo highlights one-shot replacement of paid workflow.
Open-Generative-AI**: Curated open-source generative AI toolkit repo with ready-to-run examples and models—GitHub link provides immediate clone-and-run artifacts.
Wanted, and did without
| a sanctioned serverless proxy pattern for nightly builds — e.g. a shared Worker route with a server-held xAI key, per-project rate limiting, and a budget cutoff, that a static Pages project is allowed to call at runtime without itself becoming 'a backend' | live, open-ended LLM chat demos (a sales-agent widget that genuinely argues back on arbitrary objections, not a canned script) without exposing the xAI key client-side or scoping the nightly deliverable outside 'static files only' |

Notes
blocked: Storefront Clerk's entire appeal is a sales-agent chat that genuinely argues back on arbitrary objections in real time. That requires a live LLM call per message. This plan's constraints require the deliverable to be static files only, with no API keys, no accounts, and no runtime requests to third parties. There is no way to satisfy both: shipping the xAI key in client JS exposes a small prepaid budget to drain-by-scraping, and standing up a secret-holding endpoint to proxy it makes the artifact a service, which is explicitly out of scope for this pipeline. Replacing the live negotiation with a scripted decision tree would keep it static but would misrepresent the one claim that made the idea interesting, which the honesty rule forbids. Recording this as blocked rather than shipping a scripted agent dressed up as a live one.

Re-run to apply it; finished stages are reused.
